Spring is here and it's time to "Make It You!" We've got some new classes scheduled in April that we think you'll really like. These classes are for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS, and do not require you to know anything at all about sewing. Here's the list:
April 8 from 10am to 1pm - Kitchen Accessories $25You will learn how to make your own quilted fabric. Then you'll turn that fabric into cute pot holders. In this class you'll learn quilting and how to apply bias binding. The cost of the class includes EVERYTHING. All you need to do is show up. (Hint - these could make great gifts for Mothers Day!)
April 10 & 17 from 10am to 12pm - Apron $35This class is in two parts, so make sure your calendar is clear for both days. We're making a cute short apron from the Amy Butler "In Stitches" book. You'll learn how to follow a pattern, put in a hem and pleats, do edge stitching, topstitching, and even add a trimmed pocket. You will need the book, fabric, and thread, which must be purchased separately. We'll supply the sewing tools and machine if you need it. Once again, a fabulous gift for Mom!
April 15 from 12pm to 4pm - Table Runner $35Spruce up your space for spring with a spiffy new table runner. You'll learn lots of valuable sewing skills in the process, and once again the price includes all materials, and use of our tools and machines. We'll even throw in a nice heap of encouragement.
There are still a couple of spaces open in the
Drawstring Bag class on March 25, from 10am to 1pm. This $25 class also requires the Amy Butler "In Stitches" book and a $20 fabric kit. We'll provide a sewing machine if you need it.
To register for any or all of these classes, just stop into the store (See
www.sewingroom.com for directions) or call us at 972-315-1489. Payment is required in advance to reserve your spot.
Got a job and can't make ANY of these classes? We feel your pain! In future class schedules we will try to make more MIY classes available for nights and/or weekends. This is a completely new direction for us, and we're still working out the kinks.
Need a crafty, creative fix RIGHT NOW? Check out the Thread Bangers at
www.threadbanger.com. Rob and Corinne have a short, fast-paced videos on the website with projects of their own and from their viewers. There's also a very active blog. If you have a TiVo with the latest software, you can also get their shows downloaded to it automatically. Highly recommended.
